When the island arrived, it was enormous and heavy. It took my friend and I five hours to assemble. The instructions were not bad, but they were not always clear and some steps had to be retraced so we could flip a part over. Also the walls across the long side of the island come in 5 parts. These parts were very flimsy and barely fit into the base of the island. There were gaps at the bottom when we finished. If I had to do it again, I would recommend at least three, if not four, people be on hand for the monumental task of assembly. The final product looked nice and was relatively cheap (and matches my kitchen perfectly, which is why I chose it), but within a week, the stainless steel top was scratched terribly. I would recommend this to someone on a tight budget, but if you could afford a more high end, preassembled one, you may find that the extra durability is worth the price.
